YOUR NEW MEDICINE SERVICE

Have you recently started a new medication and experienced uncertain side effects? Are you unsure about the proper way to take your medication? We understand the challenges of securing a doctor’s appointment. We are actively involved in the NHS New Medicine Service (NMS) in Ringmer to monitor your progress and address any concerns when you’ve initiated a new drug.

The NMS is a free NHS service supporting those with newly prescribed medicine for long-term conditions. It prioritizes specific patient groups.

This service aims to improve patient adherence to treatment and subsequently reduce medicine wastage. Also, to reduce hospital admissions from adverse drug reactions by identifying them in the early stages of the treatment. During your consultations with the pharmacist, you will also be advised on lifestyle interventions that will help with the management of your condition.

When given a new medicine, you may receive a consent form allowing us to call you next week for a check-in. Our pharmacists guide usage and discuss potential side effects.

It ensures your medication is taken correctly and suits you. The NMS helps identify issues, allowing potential referral back to the doctor.

Even if you are not part of the NMS, any concerns about the administration, dose or use of a medication should be raised with one of our pharmacists who are keen to help you.
